Hope in times of Quarantine

Updated: Mar 22, 2021

This is a time when fear and uncertainty abound you tend to lose sight the God is still working in the background. Many churches are closing their doors, leaving the congregation to say "What now?" For those who love sports the leagues are cancelling the rest of the season. This one has hit my home hard as my husband is a die-hard hockey fan.

We know that COVID-19 is an illness that is asystematic, this means that it doesn't follow a regular pattern such as the flu or a cold. You can carry this and not know, passing it onto others very easily. It is usually passed through human contact (handshakes and touching), through droplets in the air (sneezes and coughs) or contact with infected surfaces (doors, pews, hymnals).

Our spirituality is not only used to battle evil, but now is the time for us to do good. Now is the time for us to lean on God and his Scriptures to get us through this time.

Meditate on the Word alone and with your family. What is the Word telling me to do?

Contemplate the Word, become a participant in it. A friend of mine has been driving out to the four corners and entrances to our small town reading scripture and praying over the town. Meditating and contemplating should lead to prayer.

Remember that God is not in quarantine, but he is all over the world comforting and healing those who are stricken. Strengthening those who are the front lines of the pandemic, the doctor, nurses, first responders, people who are working in retail to keep our stores open for supplies, those who are preparing food, those who are out praying and reading scripture over towns and cities, and those who are caring for the ones in quarantine. He has not abandoned us during this time. So lean on His greatness and we will get through this together.

Here is some music that I would have used had we been able to meet for Contemporary Worship and prayer. Immerse in it and know that God is here.
