Be Prepared

Ephesians 6:10-18 is one of my favorite verses of the Bible, Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

I have battle with spiritual warfare in my life. It was a battle that was so scary for me, that could have resulted in death. I was just blessed to have people around me who were able to discern that this was happening and stepped in with their armor on and helped me to adorn mine. Now it has become routine to ensure that everyday I have my armor equipped so that I am ready not only to battle the evil, but to also protect those who don't have theirs on.

The world today seems to be filled with devastation, anger, hopelessness, and fear. The Devil is using, and will continue to use, any means necessary to get his foot in the door. We need to be prepared at all times. Just as the military ensures that they are suited up for battle, we should also be. While the armor is invisible to the eye, it is very visible in our words and actions. Our lives show what is protecting us, and it is up to us to ensure that others are told about the protection. This week I challenge you to pray for those who need the armor and share with them the way that they can get it as well.

Yours in Christ

Heather
