Dark Curtains

Updated: Mar 22, 2021

When I was about 9 years old, I had a very scary experience. I was on my way back from the bathroom heading to bed. The path allowed me to see our front door which had a huge oval window as this house was built in the 1920's. It was covered with a pretty lace curtain that was not thin so that a lot of light shone through but it was thick enough that you could only see a silhouette through it to know that something was there. I don't know what it was that was peering in the window but I know that it didn't look human and it was too big to be an animal. I know that I was not about to turn my back on this thing, so I tiptoed backwards towards my mother's room to wake her up. She wouldn't wake up so I just curled up on the floor and I prayed until morning for God to protect me.

As I got older I have never forgotten this happening to me. Since then I have always had dark curtains so that no one could see in and I couldn't see out. I was not about to have this encounter again with that thing. I know that Satan exists, you can see it in the world that we live in today. Satan doesn't want us to live in peace, so he stirs the pot. The more in fear that he can keep us the bigger and stronger he can get.

In the more recent years, I have taken to having lighter curtains so that the sun can get in, and God can bless my life with his light. I know that with Him I don't have to live in the dark where Satan resides. Once I accepted Him as my Lord and Savior I have taken down the dark curtains and have allowed for peace to reign. John 8:12 (NIV) When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” If you feel that your curtains are dark, what is stopping you from removing them?

Yours in Christ

Heather
