Can you Hear Me now?

Updated: Mar 22, 2021

When I first started attending church again after a long period of anger at God, I encountered people who were able to hear directly from God. I am not talking about the evangelist types who were using this to be self serving, but true God-fearing people who could hear, I was so jealous. I wanted to hear his voice like everyone else could.

The first time that I had someone show me this is when I was in the hospital after a suicide attempt failed. I won’t go into the whole story, that is a miraculous blog for another day. I had a nurse who wanted to pray for me so badly, I continued to tell her no, but she said she was still going to. A couple days later, she came to me and told me she was shown a picture of me in a field of purple. I just shrugged it off, but my curiosity was piqued,

So I called a lady named Lorraine, who would be a huge influence in my life, to come and visit me. I didn’t say anything to her about what the nurse had actually said to me but just that she prayed for me. That day Lorraine prayed for me as well, when she was done she looked me in the eye and said that God had shown her a picture of me in a field of purple flowers surrounding me. I was like what? No way? How can two people be told the same thing?

I have to admit that was a turning point for me, I had never in my early christian life known of people who heard words. I was told that was always for the special. Why wasn’t I special like that? I went to Breakforth and attended a class and learned that I was special, I just had to turn on my receiver, Jeremiah 29:13 (TLB) You will find me when you seek me, if you look for me in earnest. Things in life don’t get done if you don’t turn them on.

Since that day when I learned I was special I now hear from God often. The conversations we have are sometimes humorous, sometimes He directs me to areas where I am not comfortable, and sometimes I hear the quiet reprimand when I do things my way and not his. The fact is that He talks to all of us, we just need to listen.

Yours in Christ

Heather
