A new season

Updated: Mar 22, 2021

I am entering a new season with God. One in which I have to step back and marvel at the joy that is found in His presence. My son Kristopher and his spouse Ashley brought into this world a son named Atreus Douglas. I am now what my grandma was Big Mama. I am so blessed. Prayers sent and answered.

While that is the main blessing of the season, God has shared smaller blessings along the way. I am paired with a great set of in-laws for my son. Prayer sent and answered. My husband and I get along so well with them. There have been relationships I have seen where jealousy over who would be the better grandparents rages its head. I would never want to be in a family where that is way it is. I had that issue growing up, and it puts the child in an awkward spot. Thank you Jesus that I have not felt this.

In the eyes of Tre (that's what I call him), I see the best of my son and the best of my daughter-in-law. He has my son's expressiveness but my daughter-in-law's quiet demeanour and pout. I marvel at Tre's first bath, his burps, his gas smiles and I praise God for the chance to once again see our world through a child's eyes. How many firsts there will be.

I have also realised the family of God. Tre will have so many mama's, papa's, aunts, and uncles to dote on him. They have been with me along this journey of ups and downs from the moment Kris and Ashley told me they were expecting. The love and excitement that has gone around has culminated in an out-pouring of love that has shown Kris and Ashley that not all people who call themselves Christian are bad. I will keep praying that they feel the love and peace that comes from a relationship with God.

This journey and new season is just beginning. I am so ready to travel this road with God and see Him through Tre, when helping him to cultivate and accept Jesus as part of him, and maybe just get his parents to also.

Yours in Christ

Heather
